Camp Plans | Cleanup Plan 2004

Our policy is to bring consumable materials in containers that can be burned or recycled.

Decorations are also included in this discussion and are considered ahead of time to not only fall into the above categories but also in their use, to not contribute to wind released debris, (boas, grass skirts, bamboo, etc). Alongside the truck, we have marked trash bags, one for plastic, glass (beer bottles left by bar visitors), aluminum (recycled at recycling camp), wet trash (first dried in the sun) and burnable.

Below is a discussion for each area of our camp and how we deal with initial selection, use and disposal.

Bar
· Decorations - not acceptable for use: feathers, boas, shredded material that can come loose or rip easily in wind. Anything comprised of small objects that can peel or fall off in the wind or just through everyday use. Most of our decorations are reused each year to minimize costs so we don't rely much on disposable decorations. Paper or wood decorations that will be used for just one year are burned after the event.

· Cups - Only paper cups are used, they are collected in containers regularly to avoid blowing around and then burned. We encourage visitors to bring their own reusable containers to drink from.

· Bulk liquor and water - We bring liquor and bar mix water in 7 gal plastic containers.

· Bartered items - These are stored in bags at the bar and not left around to blow away.

· Garbage - We place bags at different locations around the bar to collect mixed trash as well as recycling bags for plastic and paper. All bags are sealed and then recycled or disposed of off site.

· There is a daily morning cleanup of the area to pick up stray trash from the night before. This cleanup routine also happens at varying times during the day. Careful separation minimizes mixed garbage and better recycling.

Kitchen and Food
· Mixed garbage is bagged and disposed of off site.

· Paper and wood products are burned in fire barrels or on burn platforms.

Personal
· Each person is responsible for their own immediate area management. All StarLust Lounge members are expected to follow camp cleanup guidelines.

Shower
· Grey water from the shower, drains through the palette and onto a plastic tarp which is allowed to evaporate in the sun.
